The Bihar government has banned alcohol in the state since 2016. And in order to keep that status in check, the state has requisitioned 20 specially trained pups from Telangana to sniff out liquor in its effort to sharpen the campaign against alcohol which is banned in the state for over two years.

On 26 November 2015, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced that alcohol would be banned in the state from 1 April 2016.The canines would undergo training to smell alcohol at Telangana’s Intelligence Integrated Training Academy (IITA), Additional Director General of Police (CID), Bihar, Vinay Kumar told PTI.
