St. Cloud State’s Clint Poster named NSIC Wrestler of the Week

St. Cloud State University’s Clint Poster, a resident of nearby Pierz, Minn. and a graduate of Pierz-Healy High School, has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Wrestler of the Week for Feb. 8-14, 2016.

The nation’s number one ranked wrestling NCAA Division II wrestler at 165-pounds this winter, Poster was recognized for his efforts in SCSU’s 35-3 victory over #8 ranked Upper Iowa on Feb. 11. Poster scored a pin at 3:43 against UIU’s Zak Benitz, who is ranked number four in the country at 165-pounds.

The victory helped the Huskies clinch their fifth consecutive NSIC championship and win their 43rd consecutive NSIC dual match. Poster currently owns a 30-1 overall record, which includes 16 pins this season. This marks the third time this season Poster has been named NSIC Wrestler of the Week (11/23/15 & 1/4/16).

Poster owns a 138-15 career record with the Huskies and is six wins from the team record of 144 career wins, which is owned by Tad Merritt, who wrestled at SCSU from 2008-12.

The Huskies will cap their 2015-16 regular season with a home match against NSIC rival Augustana University on Friday, Feb. 19. This match in Halenbeck Hall will start at 7 p.m. and a victory here would allow the Huskies to finish the NSIC season with an undefeated record for the fifth consecutive season. SCSU currently owns a 15-1, 7-0 NSIC record in 2015-16.
